University of Denver freshman Joey LaLeggia enjoyed the type of junior-A career that normally has NHL scouts drooling. Last season, he led all British Columbia Hockey League defensemen in scoring with 82 points (20 goals) in 58 games. He was named a conference player of the year and the league's defensive player of the year.
Yet, when the NHL draft rolled around in June, he wasn't considered worthy of selection, apparently deemed too small to make it at 5-foot-10, 180 pounds [read entire article].
