This is a disappointment, it would have been great to have "all hands on deck" this weekend. Makowski's injury must have been more serious than first thought.

Beau's injuries over the last two years have not allowed him to display his talents. I wonder if he will be able to return this year?

It is possible, perhaps likely, that Beau Bennett has played his last game in a Pioneer sweater...particularly if George Gwozdecky's statement of not even knowing when Beau's going to be able to practice until late February/early March is true.

Rumor and innuendo out here portray the Penguins as EXTREMELY unhappy with how Bennett's injury was diagnosed and initially treated by the doctors that saw him immediately subsequent to the injury.

Do not be surprised if the Pens tell Beau to come out immediately following the season and do his rehab under the organization's watchful eye.

Saw Beau walking through the concourse last Friday and his wrist was still in some sort of brace. Obviously not a good sign.

DUinPitt: I'd hate to see your statements discredited as rumor-mongoring. But then again, you actually admit that they are just "rumor and innuendo." Do you have ANY basis for your statements, or are they just run-of-the mill BS?

Unfortunately, all I am willing to say is that I have an acquaintance that is involved with the Penguins.

He or she is not in a capacity where he or she would be able to tell me whether or not final decisions have been made regarding drafted players; but would definitely hear rumors and grumblings.

I only pass it along because it's germane to DU and I am, first and foremost, a DU fan.

No matter how this season turns out, I don't think any of use are expecting Jayson or Beau back next season, that's just the reality of these things. Beau's injury and nearly season long loss just makes it tougher for us to swallow.

What's truly important here is for him to recover from this injury and resume his career, wherever.

DUinPitt--well, I hope that nothing was poorly handled by DU...and if DU did handle something poorly, I'm hoping it doesn't result in Beau leaving before he's ready to go. I'm sure 1st round picks have to leave college when they are told to leave. But you have to wonder whether Beau's long-term development would be harmed by leaving DU after just playing a 1 & 1/3 seasons. He was just starting to get his groove, and I would have liked to see him develop some more in college. A full sophomore season would have accomplished that, but that obviously wasn't in the cards.
