DU To Play North Dakota Four Times Next Season

The final year of the WCHA promises to be an exciting  season for University of Denver ice hockey fans.  Magness Arena will play host to some of the most storied programs in college hockey.  North Dakota, Wisconsin, Boston University, Cornell, New Hampshire, Colorado College and Michigan Tech will visit DU.  Counting DU's 7 National Chapionships, that's 30 previous National Championship winners.

The University of North Dakota's tentative upcoming schedule was published in Brad Schlossman's Blog.  The University of Denver will play their arch-rivals during DU's month long Christmas Break, when the Pioneers have traditionally played very well without the distraction of classes and homework.  Then late in the season North Dakota will visit Magness Arena.

Its unofficial, so don't make any travel plans yet.

We also know that DU will also face St. Cloud State and Colorado College for two series next season.  The Pioneers will then play every other WCHA rival for a two game series either home or away.

This schedule is going to be absolutely brutal for a young and rebuilding Pioneer Squad.

For fans at Magness Arena the home schedule is going to be epic.

Look for DU to play several road series while the Presidential Debate takes over DU for a month.

The debate is October 3. Can't imagine them needing the arena more tha a week to restore it to hockey conditions?

I am excited, I get to visit GF and eat at the Olive Garden that was previously reviewed by the paper's food critic.

Mullets and breadsticks, does it get any better than that?

Damn Miller you have a hard on for UND and GF in general. Whats up with that?

Man Brutal Schedule for DU next season.

Great we have to play you hacks four times. At least they should be pretty easy wins for us.

@ Anon 11:51:00
I assume you are a UND fan?

As Sioux fan I take your headline as an absolute compliment. Thank you. We'll miss Alana Rizzo up in GF.

Your scheudle is insane. Don't you want to mix in a cupcake like UAH.... oh wait.

Anonymous said...

I bet you miss Rizzo up in GF. I've seen baby rhinos who are better looking than the ladies in NoDak.

I would comment about the women of DU, but I didn't see any at the game. Looked like Aurora was there in full force though.

Anonymous said...

I'll take Aurora over the knuckle draggers in GF anyday.

I'll invite you to cruise up to the game and see what a true hockey atmosphere is like. Unlimited bread sticks at Olive Garden are on me.

Sioux take 3 out of 4 next yr.

I'll enjoy watching Zucker with on FSN North for the remaining of the Wild's season. Thank you.

Mullets and breadsticks? Ha! Can we discuss the entire eastern portion of your state? Denver is Kansas City with a view of Rockies.

That's Millers strange way of expressing his jealousy of UND's superior program. The pios are like 2-8 over the last two seasons. Next year is not looking any better.

PS.....Miller, you sound constipated again.

1:07...Grand Forks is Davenport, IA, except you get a view of your neighbor kissing his sister....what's your point?

Anonymous said...

Toews, Parise, and Oshie all chose Grand Forks were hockey is appreciated and facilities are far superior to DU's.

Brad Malone enjoys Denver though.

dggoddard said...

Too bad Toews had flee to Chicago to get a Championship. I'm sure now that he has all that cash he lives in Grand Forks in the offseason.:-)

That's what I thought. The facilities and the atmosphere trump DU's. Your program is a "not re-signing Gwoz" event away from being right there with CC in the bottom half of the soon to be NCHC. The City of Denver and Gwoz may attract players to play there, but the school/student body/alumni don't. You don't re-sign Gwoz, expect another 30+ plus yr championship drought.

What I am saying is that many players would love to play at a sold out REA in front of 11k+, in a city that actually gives a shit about hockey and not where the sport isn't an after thought to the population and even the alumni/student body. Is Grand Forks the best place to live? No. Is Grand Forks one of the best places to go to school as a hockey player? Absolutely.

Toews fled to get a championship for a team in which now calls him Captain. Nothing a current DU alum can say. Add Parise and that makes 2 C's in the NHL.

Toews, Parise, Oshie.

You slobs can woof all you want about facilities, crowds, the Olive Garden, whatever. There's nothing else to do there!!! That's why you draw big crowds, dimwit. It's by default. You turds have won zero titles in the last 10years. DU has two.

Anonymous said...

Sorry we only have two titles in the past 15 years. You have two in the past 8 or so. Wow. You folks must be so proud. When I look in the rafters there are 7 banners in both barns. After this week, there could be 7 hanging in Magness for quite some time.

Can't we all just get along? UND guy has a valid point. There are kids in this world who want to go play for UND so they can play in front of 11,000 fans twice a weekend, every other week, only during hockey season. They make this choice knowing that the other six months of the year will be devoid of anything interesting, especially including decent looking girls. Perfect example, Rocco Grimaldi. UND is the perfect choice for a guy like him. No temptations whatsoever.

Denver and DU obviously have plenty of things to offer a potential recruit. Great city, great school, great mountains, great entertainment options, and most of all a great hockey program with a great tradition.

At the end of the day, both UND and DU have 7 national championships and both programs can validly talk shit to the other. With all of their success, they both obviously attract great hockey players.

Can we sign a treaty to not talk shit to eachother until someone breaks the stalemate of 7 titles?

Anonymous said...

This Sioux fan likes that treaty. All in good fun and I guess my knuckles hurt a bit from dragging on the dirt road. I did take down a good number of bread sticks at lunch though (lets agree that they are pretty badass). With regard to the women, well we also drink a ton of beer up here so I guess my judgement is a bit clouded. Truce!

As much as we hate you and you hate us, lets keep things on the ice. This is going to be an awesome rivalry for years to come. NCHC will need that!!

Anonymous said...

While DU dropped some games that on paper they should have won their schedule this year is what got them into the tournament.

Anonymous said...

I think UND fans are sad...It just proves that, yes, when hockey is done there is nothing else left to do in GF but troll opposing fan sites and argue with them like 12 year olds. Seriously, find a hobby for the off season. UND fans are classless. They proved that with the way they handled the Jesse Martin situation and continually bombarding DU sites...get a life and try growing up a little!

Robbie Bina....

Twister said...

Awesome schedule for DU fans. There will be a lot of heavyweights coming to town in 2012-13. Can't wait.

On paper at least, next year's team will lack the flash and star power of this year's team, especially if Bennett bolts as well. I think DU may need to commit to a more grinding physical style, be much more aggressive around the net, and score some ugly goals. I think we can take comfort in the fact that our goaltending should be stellar and the blue line should be top notch.

Anonymous said...

Yeah but Robbie Bina is still playing isn't he? And that wasn't the point...this is DU fan site...DU fans are not being idiots and taunting, acting like 12 year olds on UND sites.

Well considering every thread kicks off with mulltes and bread sticks, kicking Sioux fans in the back of head when they chant "Sioux" at the end of the National Anthem, toothless comments, Grand Forks is shit hole comments, Olive Garden Comments, women look like Rhinos comments......etc. What do you excpect!?

I guess Sioux fans are the only ones that act like 12 year olds! Are you serious!? Continue to have the Sioux brought up in every thread (including ones that mention the Sioux in the freaking headline), continue the rhetoric above and you can expect on having us "trolls" ALL OVER your blog stirring the pot. You can bank on that shit.

I invite you onto some of the Sioux blogs. The only time they mention Denver is the week before we play you losers, and a few days after. Oh and we discuss your recent departures.

My first time visiting this site. Can't say I'm surprised the North Dakota fans troll this site as hard as they troll USCHO.com
