DU has five current NHLers: Tyler Bozak (Toronto), Matt Carle (Philadelphia), Paul Stastny (Colorado), Chris Butler (Calgary) and Jason Zucker (Minnesota).
Many schools have more than we do.
We've has about 60 All-time Pioneers play in the NHL.
I've been troubled by the same question as Anon 11:21. According to Gwoz, Zucker couldn't shoot the puck against FSU because of his injury. And a week later he's playing for the Wild? I'm sure there's an explanation, but that seems to be a miraculous healing.
It's the same miracle water they have for soccer players I guess. Goes right back to how many players just want to get the season over so they can move on to their NHL teams. Is it fair for the rest of the team and the fans? How wide open nets did he mss in the NCAA tourney????
He might not be fully recovered, but a week can be pretty valuable recovery time, especially at that level of athletics. And for $70k signing bonus and a prorated year towards free agency and the "big boy" NHL contract, I think I'd be able to dig deep for 10 minutes of ice time...
Zucker was hurt, and injuries heal. My guess is he badly bruised his elbow in the final minutes of the UND game at the Final Five, and the DU trainers were able to work things so he could at least get into the lineup vs FSU. As you saw, he wasn't at his best vs FSU, but she skated hard and got 7 shots on goal even with limited power. Now, it's 12 days after the UND game and Zucker's elbow is probably much better now. Bruises heal.
There is no doubt in my mind that Zucker gave every ounce of himself for his school. He probably shouldn't have even played vs FSU. But there he was out there giving his best for DU because that's he's a warrior who plays every shift hard and plays bigger than his size.
He cared about his team and his school. Jason gave his best for DU and that's how he sould be remembered. If he had an NHL-first mentality, he wouldn't have even played against FSU.
Never questioned Zucker's heart and grit; one of my favorite DU players ever. I'm just trying to understand whether Gwoz was playing mind games about how seriously Jay-Z was injured, or the Wild is being reckless with their investment.
It take a troll or an imbecile or an imbecile troll to question Jason Zucker's heart and committment to DU hockey. DG's right, as much as we all would have wished for him to stay and graduate, that's not how things are these days. He owes us nothing, because he gave us every bit of what he had for the past two years. One of the toughest, most crowd pleasing and exciting players we've ever had. And we should all be grateful.
9:54, not sure if you are too stupid to know that Zucker didn't even play in that series because of the WJCs, or if you are too stupid to know that Gwoz always sits our players after the WJCs if we have a game right when they get back.

Wow how funny no NHL teams eveeeer do this to rookies how special for him.
Welcome to the NHL Jason, the pranks are just starting.....
you're the special one 9:04
I noticed a few times that Zucker was always the first guy on the ice and the last guy off the ice for DU during pregame warm-ups.
Obviously he has the drive, skill and motivation to make the NHL.
So what exactly was wrong with him during the NCAA tourney? He fully recovered in a week to play in the NHL?
With Zuck's now in the show how many NHL players do we have this year? It has to be close if not more than any other college team right?
No.

Jason Zucker gave 100% his entire DU career. He doesn't owe our fans anything.

Add in the fact that Wild fans might actually know how to say his name... That's probably motivation enough.

If Zucker had some sort of a bruise or muscle injury versus a broken bone the answer is neither.
DU had nine guys miss practice on Tuesday before departing for Green Bay.
Where does this stand in terms of how fast a DU boy played his first true NHL game after leaving or graduating? That's got to be a record, eh???

Grammar 1, OP 0
Spelling 1, OP 0
And, yes, JZ's heart and 'committment' (sic) were on display during DU's loss to UAH. ;-)

Which one is it?
Zucker gets his NHL point tonight. Almost scored himself. Looking good!
