Wow, I wasn't aware that our tennis team beat Florida in the NCAA's. Great accomplishment.

It looks like men's lacrosse is the last team standing, hope they can pull off the win vs. North Carolina.

Day-ammm Son! I can't think any bigger credentials for an incoming, new-hire, first-year NCAA D1 coach to be carrying, than a USHL/WHL/NAHL Championship.... keep workin, boys! Go Saints! Can't argue with that. Even Ray Charles and Hellen Keller would agree - I think DU will be just fine, thank you. Looking forward to scrimmaging with UNB and then dropping the hammer on Merrimack

Woody is pretty controversial. He had been right on most of his predictions on the Avs. For that reason, ownership may be reluctant to hire Gwoz. It would be great to keep him in Denver.

BTW, I am testing out my new avatar - the Jackalope (to the right). I am only supportive of the jackalope mascot under three conditions:

1) He must wear a red vest
2) He must have a bow tie
3) He must wear horn rim glasses

What better way to celebrate a mythical western icon at DU?

Excellent new avatar Tim. We can only hope DU picks as sweet a looking jackalope.

Best of luck to Monty and the Saints. Would be really cool if cool if they could win the championship.

How about Coombe Daddy's face on the Jackalope

I just posted the little fella on the DU mascot page. Feel free to go there and add your thoughtful comments and support.

We need to insist on the rare 'red vested jackalope' or nothing at all! They want our 'input' on the design so we should give them our support!

I saw Coombe in the grocery store on Sunday.

I had to fight a nearly overwhelming desire to slap those douchey looking glasses off his face while unleashing an obscenity-laden tirade regarding his pathetic lack of leadership.

From Yahoo! hockey writer Ryan Lambert in his weekly "What We Learned:" column:

"Colorado Avalanche: If the Avs want to win they should hire a college coach who has never coached a pro game in his life, writes a columnist who doesn't know anything about hockey. Y'know, ahead of Dave Tippet, who turned the Coyotes around in one season all by himself."

So, yeah. It appears that not everyone on the whole interweb thing is genuflecting at the alter of Gwoz...

Shyiak reportedly bashed a player with his hockey stick during practice. Too bad it wasn't Donald the duck instead. Or, at least lafranchise

So both Peg and Ronnie have been named to the NCHC Board of Directors. Mr. Graham, I can certainly support. Peg on the other hand.....now thats a PC move if I ever saw one, by Jim Scherer. Atleast DU is well represented.

All athletic directors of conference members are elected to the Board of the NCHC.

Nothing PC about it.

You think Peg is not qualified?

Peg is a nationally resepcted athlec director who has built the top DI non-football athletic dept in the country at DU. She was elected by her peers to the NCAA leadership council. She's made excellent coaching decisions so far since she came here in 2005. Her conference affilaition decisions are the pretty much the only decisions she could have made.
She has a record number of ranked teams at DU as of right now, a record GPA and graduation rate and the kids stay out of trouble.

On balance, she's done a very good job at DU.

D.U. has won the non football college Directors Cup for the last four years. Stanford has done the same for the Football colleges.

UND is expected to bring in four defensemen next season — USHL defenseman of the year Paul LaDue, BCHL defenseman of the year Troy Stecher and NTDP blue liners Ausmus and Keaton Thompson.

............just sayin

Is this turning into a alternative life-style hook-up site?

Based on fan feedback, the "Red Vested Jackalope" now has a sheriffs badge. As we all know, the old west sheriff not only sought justice but, oftentimes, acted as judge and jury as well. This is important if we want to accurately create our new mascot.

there is dumb and dumber. A goofy looking animal that doesn't even exist is the absolute dumbest.

I applaud your efforts, Tim. Although at first glance it looked like a Chiuahua wearing those clip-on fake reindeer horns that you can buy for dogs at Christmas time. May I ask though - could this insinuate that "Jack" makes the rules and runs the school - and not Chancellor??? Goota be careful with that. Perhaps a DEPUTY badge is more acceptable...??? Same visual effect either way.

Deputy Jack!.......I love it!!!

A little red (or crimson) vest and a badge....epic.

The black bow tie should be gold, however.

Deputy Jack will be the man!!

the jackalope is a jackajoke. We don't need other schools laughing at us.

Long Beach State's official mascot is a Titan, but the baseball team are "unofficially" called the Dirt Bags. UC Irvine the Anteaters, shich is bad enough, but uniforms simply say Eaters. So a jackalope or a Boone like character, named Deputy Dan (as in Ritchie)is not that far fetched.

For diversity sake I'm still holding out for Platy the Pioneer Platypus.

5BWest said...

After some good feedback, the black bow tie has been replaced with a crimson & gold bow tie.

I think we have just about perfected the rare, one-of-a-kind 'red-vested jackalope'.

I must admit the platypus is very appealing -- unfortunately, a great idea a bit late.

it looks like you are a committee plant with the assignment of pulling this disaster out of it's deep(very deep) hole.
Get this straight! A jackalope is a frieking jackajoke. Wonderful,a rabbit with horns. How clever! how stupid!!

Either I have been uncovered as a committee hack or some people don't get the point. Or, I could be a double agent.

Some days I don't even know....
