CRADLE OF COACHES: Miami University is renowned in college athletics as the `Cradle of Coaches', as an extraordinary number of coaches have either graduated from or cut their coaching teeth at MU.
This weekend, former Miami and current Denver head coach George
Gwozdecky will become the 45th member of Miami's Cradle of Coaches Association, an elite fraternity of both collegiate and professional coaches that have made a lasting impact on their respective sports. Among the other members are Bo Schembechler (football) and Ara Parseghian (football). Gwozdecky will be inducted during the second intermission of Friday's game between Miami and Denver.
Coach Gwozdecky is a two-time Spencer Penrose National Coach of the Year (1993 & 2005) and three-time WCHA Coach of Year (1995, 2002 & 2005)
