Note: We have received word that Dan Comrie suffered yet another concussion and his hockey career is over. Best wishes to Dan in his future endeavors. 2/7/2007 - dg
The last time LetsGoDU checked in with Dan Comrie, he was beginning his comeback with the Lincoln Stars after suffering a horrific head injury in 2004. Today the Denver Post is reporting that Comrie is looking to sign with the Pioneers for next season.
.
This week Comrie was named USHL's Offensive Player of the week. Comrie had a big six-point weekend, including a five-point game Friday against Ohio. He had 3 goals and 2 assists in a 7-0 win over Ohio and added an assist the next night in a 5-2 win over Ohio.
Comrie, cousin of former DU All-American Paul Comrie and NHL forward Mike Comrie, is back playing hockey and looking to sign with DU after concussions put his career in doubt three years ago after he committed to the Pioneers.
Comrie, who will be 21 in August, has 17 points (eight goals) in 18 games and has played in only 21 games since the beginning of 2003-04.
Comrie, from San Diego, originally was slated to join DU in 2004, along with current juniors Geoff Paukovich, Andrew Thomas and Peter Mannino.

Is DU still in the running for Riley Nash? How many scholies are left? Is Comrie comparable to where he was a couple of years ago?
Acording to Heisenberg's blog DU & UND are the finalists in the Riley Nash Sweepstakes. Its not known if he would come in '07 or '08.
I would place the odds of him picking DU at 60% and UND at 40%.
Obviously Comrie has missed a lot of hockey in the past three years. I'm really pleased that DU honored their previous commitment to Dan and that he is going to persue a college degree. I would expect him to play at DU for four years.
With at least three guys either '07 or '08 (Lee, Gregoire & possibly Nash) DU has flexibility in the scholarship department, depending upon who goes pro early.
Comrie has been released by Lincoln. Word is he is being forced to hang up the skates for good because of yet another concussion. Gotta feel bad for the kid. Good luck Dan.
Anon,
Thanks for posting. I hope he still decides to attend the Universit of Denver and pursue a degree.
