Was The Plot Hatched On Feb. 6th?
This was posted Today on SiouxSports.com by a poster nicknamed Eskimo22.

"As someone close to the family I can tell you that Jason is thrilled to be part of the UND Fighting Sioux family.

At no time did anyone ever contact Jason or his family after he verbally committed to Denver in an effort to persuade him to change his mind. The UND staff were nothing but professional and ethical in their handling of this difficult situation. It's also important to know that Denver treated Jason exceptionaly well and Jason wishes them the best in the future.

Whether he could play in 2007 or 2008 never had any impact on his decision to change his mind. Jason simply had some time to reconsider what was important to him, which is family. He realized that he wanted to play closer to home and that UND could offer him everything he ever really wanted and needed to ro reach his ultimate goals. He didn't take this lightly but he ultimately had to be true to himself. UND is where he wants to be."

The interesting thing is that back on Feb. 6, 2007 this same person posted the quote below. And what date did Jason Gregoire commit to DU? Feb. 1, 2007.

"Is a verbal commitment binding? I see kids changing their minds and going to the OHL instead of NCAA. But what if a kid wants to go to a different school and he hasn't signed yet? Can he switch? Is this ever done?"

This leads me to believe that this has been brewing from virtually the day Gregoire committed to DU & would lead one to believe that the family came up with this on their own, without help from UND...

Attaching my personal self esteem to the whims of an 18 year old hockey player isn't healthy, but I am seriously depressed over this.....:(

Boy would I like to beat UND in the NCAA championship game in the Pepsi Center next April 12th

You'd have to actually make the NCAA's before that could happen, du78.

So UND has already made next years NCAA's? What is that the Frozen Four choking rule? You make it to the Frozen Four "x" number of times without winning it and you get an autobid the next year? Sweet rule.

Yes, they have. Maybe if UAA would have made the NCAA's or hell even come close to making the NCAA's in the last 10 years, you'd have an inkling of this rule. I mean we all know that UAA would never actually make the Frozen Four, but you'd still have a better chance of knowing about the rule if the Seawolves made the NCAA's.

Dirty,

May I remind you of DU's NCAA record against UND

NCAA Championship Games
1958 DU 6 UND 2
1963 UND 6 DU 5
1968 DU 4 UND 0
2005 DU 4 UND 1

NCAA Semi-Finals
2004 DU 1 UND 0

I like DU's chances

Good luck to Jason where ever he goes. DU will move on and recruit another player just as good if not better.

Once again in order for that to happen Denver has to make the NCAA's.

And the 2004 game was in the Quarter Finals.

Maybe he saw the Saturday game against tDogs and thought "Geez, DU sucks."

RWD,

Just as likely that he saw that game and thought, "I'd love to commit to UMD but since they won't have a new arena until 2057, I'll settle for North Dakota."

I keep forgetting that past accomplishments are such a big factor in next weekends games. I guess that all UAA has to do to beat UND next year is look at their record against them last year (2-1-1).

Seriously though ... in god knows how many years that you've bandied words with people on the internets the best you can come up with is "UAA sucks" as a response to smartassery about your team?

I hope I'm still alive in 2057. I know you old fogies won't be!

oh, well, obviously poster/mom was all upset about the original decision (dad probably had the NCAA/LOI rules in his back pocket), and needed to verbally vent her frustration with her 17yo's decision to be a billion miles away.

the latest post basically sounds like a big 'whew, that was close' posting.

This isn't the first time UND has been involved in something like this, although it was Blais pulling the offer from what-is-name who ended up at UAA (and scored a goal against UND, if my memory serves!) Payback is a B*tch!

I consider verbals like engagements. You're not married, there is no penalty for backing out, but it's bad form to leave someone hanging at the alter. On the other hand, if you think it's a bad fit, and your old girlfriend seems to be better fit and just broke up with her boyfriend (Toews)... best to break off the engagement and ask for for your ex's hand in marriage... with the caveat you still can back out of that one too.

Ooops, sorry about that Donald. I thought that since you brought up UND's past of choking in the NCAA's I was allowed to bring up UAA's past of not making the NCAA's. My mistake. I'll check with you next time for the DTP Seal of Approval before I proceed with anything.

Sound logic. Never let it be said that you aren't capable of learning.

With the progression of medical technology I'd tend to think that 96 years old isn't beyond the realm of possibilty for me. I'd have thought you'd know better than to write me off.

But, Donald, I doubt Swami could make it that long, and I know there are several hits out on Goddard, so I'm guessing he won't make it either, though he is wily.

What is this talk of UAA never playing in the NCAA tourney I thought UAA beat BC in Boston years ago.

So i guess donald can do all the ripping on und and when they retaliate he plays the whole quit picking on me and my shitty school stuff. what a bunch of crap. your right 2-1-1 is an ok little thing to dwell on but remember what really matters and that is 7>0.

Anon @ 12:03
Deary,
Your primary malfunction is that you don't recognize that when I "do ripping on UND" that I'm praying and hoping with every fiber of my being that someone will come back with some (any) sort of well-thought commentary and/or spectacularly brilliant sarcasm that has to do with the context of my "ripping". I welcome such interchanges. Once in a while, someone will come close to doing so (even a North Dakotan ... rare but true) in one venue or another and my faith in humanity is buoyed.

More often than not though they just type out some completely and totally stupid emotional response like "UAA Sucks" which is akin to "I'm rubber you're glue ..." or they trot out the even more ridiculous recitation of how many national championchips their team has eaten.

Can you guess which paragraph your whining fits into?

You gotta believe that good ol' coach Dave has his greasey little finger prints all over this one.

Donald,

you are so brilliant and just way out of any of these people's leagues. The way you poke fun at others is so above everyone else. Your comebacks are so brilliant. I really dont know how you can stand people on these sites.

I cant believe someone can be so into themselves. Your jealousy is really starting to show though, so come up with some other brilliant excuse for this if we are even worthy of an answer.

All this kid is is a gutless little punk who thinks that und is great because he can go out, break the law, be like bochenski, brandt, toews, oshie and bina and the countless other felons and have no worries other than some "internal discipline" from the always ethical coach dave.

Anonymous said...

really? If you would please remove your head from your ass for one moment anon@12:44. You would know by now that oshie and toews both got fines and community service. And Bina is still awaiting trial. And I know that the sioux players are the ONLY players in all of college hockey to drink underage. We should lock them up and throw away the key right?

Anonymous said...

That's right anon @ 1:34. If you don't like it stick where the sun don't shine. Compared to morons like you Minnesota is looking a hell of alot better. Atleast one good thing happened when toews left. One less felon to deal with.

Anonymous said...

Wow someone is obviously very bitter about this and disregards all the facts. What a moron.

Let's see..Besides the recent group you guys also have a counterfeiter and "light fingered Louie' who gets his grins by stealing pull tabs from a VFW or Legion or whatever in Rouseau. then again what would expect from a group who pays homage to a Nazi and manages to desecrate our national anthem at every game. Other than that you have much to be proud of.

oh yeah cause i forgot that ralph was in the german army during WWII. Half of the stuff you hear about ralph isnt true.I knew the man personally and was the nicest most down to earth man you could ever meet. Where is one instance you know for sure you heard that in fact he was a nazi other than hearsay? Please I really want to see this.
