According to Coach Gwozdecky DU needs to get back NSYNC. The team is "tearing up his heart"
If nothing else, the University of Denver hockey team was prepared to battle through a late-season slump.
Losers of four of their past five games, the Pioneers (18-8) have schedules and results of this season and the past two years hanging on the information wall in their locker room. It identifies the season-ending, 3-5-1 stretch in 2006 and 3-8-2 decline in 2007 that cost them berths in the NCAA Tournament.
Three weeks ago, DU was 17-4 and on a seven-game winning streak. The information wall reminded the Pioneers they couldn't take things for granted, but that hasn't helped them steer clear of another rough February.
They have been outscored 22-11 in their past five games.
"We're just out of sync right now," DU coach George Gwozdecky said.
Ten regular-season games remain, beginning this weekend with two games against visiting Minnesota. The Golden Gophers took red-hot North Dakota to overtime twice last weekend, losing 2-1 and tying 1-1.
DU hasn't lost much ground in the PairWise Rankings, going from third to a tie for fifth. The top 12 teams will be assured NCAA Tournament berths.
"That's all fine and good," Gwozdecky said of the PairWise, "but obviously the No. 1 priority and concern is our on-ice performance. We have a big challenge coming up, and our guys are looking forward to it."

personally, I would rather be "out of sync" than be lip-syncing with a bunch of gay dudes...
