North Dakota hockey coach Dave Hakstol did a very good job at his press conference yesterday taking full responsibility for the incident in Minneapolis last Saturday night. The transcript linked above is a good read and it may turn out that several positives come out of the episode.DU will face UND in 10 days and Hakstol mentioned that the coaching staff would coach in his absence, but no roles had been defined yet.

i am a sioux fan and i would like to know if this happened to du, what do you think the result of a du und series would be? a part of me thinks that it will bring the team together even more to make und sweep. the other part is obviously not so favorable, especially if du has trotter and rueg in.
I would agree with you and that the team would rally behind the assistant coach and be really fired up. Plus the game is in Grand Forks so the crowd will be really pulling for the team from the get go.
Gwoz handed over the reins to assistant Steve Miller & Seth Appert in 2004 when he attended Magnuson's funeral. The results for DU were pretty wacky. DU was really fired up and jumped out to a 7-1 lead only to lose to Mankato 8-7.
