DU Grilling Society Announces Sponsorship Deal

Next Friday afternoon's Tailgate Party before the DU vs. Colorado College game will feature a new condiment. Heinz 57 Steak Sauce will be "the official sauce of the DU Grilling Society."

Things will kick off around 5 p.m. in Lot W (East Jewell Ave. & South University Blvd. near Magness Arena) (map link).

The aim of the Tailgate Party is to "unite students with parents, alums and community members."

Lets have a great turnout at this event and create some energy that will carry over into Magness Arena against the Colorado College. The DU Grilling Society will be preparing ribs, pork tenderloin, flank steaks, and "Tiger" shrimp.

We've got 7 quarts of freshly made barbecue sauce for the ribs, a soy-ginger-lime marinade for the flank steak, a spicy rub for the shrimp, and a sage-thyme-rosemary rub for the tenderloins.

The Heinz 57 should go great with the grilled Tiger ;-)

Maybe a custom blend of '57 sauce and Tiger Sauce. :-)

Anyone know if boozing is going to be allowed over with these tailgaters?

jhahn will have to confirm, but I thought that the reason why the tailgating events were held in "Lot W" was that those that were over 21 could BYO.

According to the Clarion article below drinking was allowed. However don't get arrested on my account.

Looking forward to this more and more.

As I understand it DU is a wet campus, so if you are of age booze is allowed. Not sure what the container regs are, and campus safety is supposed to be making regular patrols, so its at your own risk if you're not of age.

Looking forward to seeing everyone! And if you do come let us know you're a LetsGoDU referral- we like to see what kind of traffic we generate from different sources. Plus its always kind of fun to meet people you jab with on the blog. Did the same thing at the US Grand Prix a few years ago and met some pretty cool people from all over.

Marinades and rubs are being formulated tonight, meat prepped tomorrow, and smoker starts at 10am on Friday! See everyone in a couple of nights.

This was probably already covered, but is this event open to all? Sounds like a great pre game warmup.

Twister, what's your status?

Open to all. Codeword to get in: "LetsGoDU" :-)

Willy,

Hoping to make it. We'll be doing the usual swimming in suds at the house before the game and then will try to get over to the big tailgate. I'll be with the usual band of delinquents.

Jhahn,

Nice work. There's nothing better than a tailgate before a big victory.

Open to all, especially with the codeword "LetsGoDU." Anything along the lines of 1957 or 51 years or grilled Tiger qualifies as well.

Twister- its all for the love of food, friends, grilling, and spirit. We have tons of fun with it, even if it is a lot of work.
