DU 4 - Minnesota 0 FINAL

(above) Anthony Maiani celebrates after scoring DU's first power play goal since the Bush administration

(above) Chevy had it all going on Saturday night
“We felt we had to make some changes, and those changes turned out to be very effective. The players we inserted into the lineup (Cunningham, Marcuzzi, Vossberg) really brought us some energy and enthusiasm, especially in the locker room. Obviously, Brandon Vossberg scored a big short-handed goal for us. They really were the glue, I thought, for our team tonight,” Gwozdecky said.
Coach Gwozdecky pulled the old "Bench Four Starters To Lull The Other Team To Sleep" Trick tonight in Magness Arena. Goaltender Marc Cheverie recorded his first career shutout as DU rolled to an improbable 4-0 victory over the #1 ranked Minnesota Gophers.

Cheverie looked great- and Bozak has been playing marvelously. I don't know what George did in the emergency team meeting, but it worked. Scratching Mullen and Martin was smart- because they were stupid with the puck last night. Testwuide has been questionable lately too. Glad to see Vossberg get a shortie for his first goal of the year.

Agreed on all counts. You just can't figure out college hockey. What a turnaround.

Wow, what a difference a night makes. DU was a completely different team tonight.

It's amazing what happens when they play with some grit and fire. They were a difficult team to play against tonight. They played with passion, stood up for each other, and looked like a team. Guys like Cunningham and Vossberg really seemed to give them a spark. Congrats to Chevy on a shutout against a very good Gopher team.

I'm guessing the Pios learned some valuable lessons from this weekend.

Twister- a resounding second on hoping for lessons learned from this weekend.

I thought Glasser really provided a spark. Dewhurst played his best game as a Pioneer. Gifford played his best game in over a year.

Loved the effort and intensity and pride the boys showed tonight.

After Fridays game, fans should have questioned the team's heart. Tonight, the team gave us an answer.

DU was the proverbial wounded animal, and Chevy stepped up and played like a leader.

Sitting Mullen was a gamble, but I think it showed the rest of the guys that even seniors get benched when they play stupid hockey. Mullen will be back, and my guess is we'll see a different player

Season saving victory. DU didn't just beat Minny, they dominated them. Even Colburne played hard tonight (his defensive play saved a potential goal on one Minny rush at the goal mouth). If THIS team can show up then the sky is the limit.

It was good to see the Pioneers play like the Pioneers again. They better not let this victory slip away though. They need to start taking care of business again against some of these lower teams, especially starting next weekend.

They have to beat Colgate and Air Force.

Wow.

Rock on, guys.

It was so quiet outside of Magness tonight -- I figured Minnesota must have won big. I'm glad to see I was wrong. But what gives? Why was the crowd so dead?

Students have all gone home on Winter break. Will be back for classes on Jan. 5th.

Denverites haven't figured out that college hockey games are supposed to be rowdy, fun events.

DU hasn't bothered to tell the fans that college hockey games are supposed to be rowdy, fun events.

LetsGoDU: "College hockey games are supposed to be rowdy, fun events."

Hmm... What I'm hearing is that college hockey games are supposed to be rowdy, fun events.

Completely agree on Gifford, Glasser, and Dewhurst. I'm really glad Gwoz is giving Glasser some PP time--he deserves and can make some things happen.
