University Of North Dakota Opens "Tent City" Dorm

(above) UND's "Tent City" was busy this weekend as students camped out for hockey season tickets

In an effort to keep skyrocketing housing and tuition costs down, the University of North Dakota will allow students to live in tents this Fall. The program has proven to be quite popular in a state that has been hard hit by the economic downturn.

Since the 1990s, North Dakota has experienced virtually constant decline in population, particularly among younger people with university degrees. One of the major causes of emigration from North Dakota looms from a lack of skilled jobs for graduates.

UND President Robert O. Kelley noted, "Since most of our students grew up in trailers and mobile homes, they are used to living off the land. Besides, they'll be leaving the state after they graduate, so why should build dorms for them."

how original. maybe you should start a UND blog. you talk about them almost as much as your beloved pioneers. don't be hating just b/c you wished DU (in general) cared as much about hockey as UND. :) have a nice day!

so what else is there to do in ND besides hockey???

Never been there; but I hear a new game called "Lawnmower Toss" is all the rage right now.

Glorious!

Anon #1, DG knows that the best way to get hits on a blog is to make North Dakota fans angry. They surf over and express their outrage during the NASCAR commercial breaks.

9:10...this is your UND blog, homeslice. You're one of the Sioux dimwits who reads this blog for UND blurbs.

RWD you're way too funny you're thinking of the SCSU fans. :)

DG likes to write about about a team who's fans actually give a damn about the team. Since that obviously doesn't describe DU, he writes about UND. ;)

Goon, St. Cloud fans often don't have electricity and nothing tears them away from NASCAR.

shotty journalism again DG. This blog is worthless.

I spent several hours on the internets researching your claims and could not find one source to back them up. Just for the record, the chancellor did not make those comments, nor is UND building a tent city as a dorm.

I thought this story was 100% true. I'm shocked to hear it's not completely accurate.

i wasn't fooled like you Dirty. I just wanted to prove how worthless this blog is.

I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to the citizens of North Dakota. I have recently learned that my sources for this story were not entirely correct.

"Tent City" has been dismantled and President Kelley is NOT going to be using tents for dorms.

I hope that this apology will in some small way help close the rift that has been developing between UND fans and myself.

As a further good will gesture I am willing to run for Governor of North Dakota, so that I can properly utilize by considerable writing and organizing skills for good, not evil.

at least you recognized that you are a dumb ass and that you lied in your story. However, i find it hard to forgive you after your constant unprovoked and baseless attacks against us.

dggoddard said...

That's it. I'm taking back my fake apology and withdrawing my campaign for Governor.

You'll have to solve your problems without me.

So long as you promise to keep Gwoz from coming here and wandering around like a lost puppy, you have yourself a deal! Experience it once was more than enough, thank you very much.

I really can't tell if this person is an idiot or a master of satire.
