DU's newest recruit, Beau Bennett, scored a goal and provided two assists in the Canadian Junior Hockey League Prospects Game at the Winkler Arena. Bennett's Western teammates thrashed the East 8-1. Close to 50 NHL, major junior and college scouts poured over Canada's top Canadian junior players.
Six to seven at a table, the scouts did their best to keep their notes confidential, all the while going to their BlackBerries regularly to consult their personal spies on whom and what to report back on.
Whether or not it was worth all the clandestine negotiations remains to be seen, but when the puck dropped at 1 p.m., the scouts got their money's worth. At least from Team West.
Led by Brendan O'Donnell of the MJHL's Winnipeg South Blues, Team West throttled Team East in the first game of a two-game total-point series for the President's Cup.
Game 2 goes tonight at 7:30 with Team East down seven points.
Assistant Coach Cary Eades of the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux had several players on his list of whom to watch. "Unfortunately, NCAA rules prohibit us from identifying them publicly," he said over lunch at Tim Horton's. "But they are players who we've been watching and we're very interested in seeing. Some of them we've seen before and this will be a follow-up."
"Some of them we'll see for the first time, and maybe it'll cause us to go back to see them play for their regular team in the next month or so."
"I'm sure it'll be a much closer game (today)," Neduzak said. "They'll come out a little harder and give it a little extra effort. I think it will be a really good game."

Is O'Donnell committed to anyone yet?
Brendan O'Donnell has given a verbal commitment to North Dakota. Heisenberg's Website has him listed as going to UND in 2010 or 2011.

Yea, I knew that. Being that the mafia is so popular around here now, I'm just "breakin balls"......in a classy kind of way.
Beau Bennett nameed top forward in the Tournament. Team East beat Team West 2-0 in game two of the two game total goal series. However, with the 8-1 win for West on Tuesday they took home the trophy. With the win Team West captures the trophy for the first time in three years.
