DU's Doesn't Want To Face UAA Again

Mike Chambers Denver Post Blog claims University of Denver doesn't want to face UAA in the playoffs.
WCHA-leading Denver has additional motivation to win the MacNaughton Cup as regular-season league champion. If the Pioneers do that, they’ll likely place 10th-place Michigan Tech, unquestionably the league’s weakest team, in the first round of the WCHA playoffs. Finishing second, however, could require a best-of-three series against Alaska-Anchorage, currently in ninth place, two points behind Minnesota State. DU doesn’t want that. The Pioneers — speedy, skilled and perhaps a little soft in spots — don’t want to see tough, gritty and relentless UAA again, particularly at a time when the big picture is a week in front of them. You have to give credit to UAA this weekend for playing a physical/team game against DU. They can give us problems especially if DU plays with the "lack of heart" they had (especially on Friday).

Shyiak said. “After not playing for more than a month (Dec. 5), I thought our guys played great and deserved better fate. I thought penalties caught up to us, but when you’re a first-place team and you’re in their home barn, they’re going to get the calls, and they got several calls tonight.”

Are you f-ing kidding me? Look at how many contact to the head BS calls UAA recieved because of their midgets running around on the ice.

Yeaaaaaah, DU got all the calls in their favor, that's why you're in 9th place every year...nice try

If we play them again here in the tournament we'll kick their ass two straight. The great gwaz will adjust to their style.

Shyiak is an idiot. Every call against UAA was warranted. Quit bitching about the officiating and try to win some more games, eh Coach!

DG -- You're killing me, man. I never wrote "DU's afraid to face UAA again" ... Simply stating DU doesn't match up well with UAA, and if the Pios get UAA in the first round, just like last year, it's going to take a lot out of them to get to the Final Five and then make an NCAA run. You've seen it before -- championship-caliber teams running out of gas because of the rugged WCHA playoffs. Quit attributing phony quotes from me or you'll no longer be my favorite blog. -- MC

D.G. --What are you thinking pissing of Mike Chambers. We need his continuing support. I suggest you send him a bottle of single malt with a nicy-nice note.

Mike:

DG is the college hockey blog equivalent of William Randoph Hearst, who inflamed the Spanish American war to make millions selling his newspapers. DG may not be in it for the millions, but a light twist to your story heeadline seems clearly intended to generate more readership for you and for the blog.

When Hearst Artist Frederic Remington, cabled from Cuba in 1897that "there will be no war," William Randolph Hearst cabled back: "You furnish the pictures and I'll furnish the war."

DU doesn't match up well with UAA. With the DQs, UAA lost crappy 4th stringers while DU lost quality defensemen. I'd hate to see what the sore losers would do after loosing a playoff game.
