(above) Coach Gwozdecky's current contract is set to expire in 2014
The University of Denver has begun contract negotiations with hockey coach George Gwozdecky, who oversees the school's flagship sport but is no longer its highest-paid coach. Mike Chambers article has all the details.

Gwoz is producing quality hockey (team is #2 in the PWR) and quality players. Eight current DU players have a 3.5 GPA or above (more than any other WCHA team), and many more have above a 3.0.
College sports dynasties are about the coaches, not the school. Look at Nebraska football after Osborne left. Or DU hockey after Armstrong left...[ouch!]
Do what it takes to lock him up long term so that the recruits can be sure that he'll be around.
He's the best coach in college hockey. He needs to be compensated accordingly.
Is this just George; or his staff as well? Are each of those dudes thier own little entity so to speak? Or is GG given a payroll budget and hires who he sees fit?

Give the man what he wants.
I agree.

Interesting question.
You'd have to think if the coach gets a bump, the others will be along for the ride. But I'm just speculating.
