Coach Gwozdecky Answered Fans' Questions

In today's Denver Post, longtime University of Denver hockey coach George Gwozdecky answered questions about Pioneers players leaving for the NHL, the Colorado pipeline to DU's program, and the future of the WCHA.

Thanks to those LetsGoDU readers who contributed questions and to the Denver Post for setting up the interview. Check it out.

Lots of really great questions from the fans. Outstanding.

The Denver Post has done a great job in covering the Pioneers in the past two weeks. Lets hope it continues.

Some good stuff. The Post is doing a great job covering DU hockey especially in football crazy Denver. Now if we could only get Woody Paige to talk about DU hockey on PTI on ESPN :-)

Reading through the "coach speak" on the Big Ten/WCHA issue, some interesting ideas can be extrapolated...

He used the term "expansion" as one of the strategies that WCHA may be exploring in repsonse to the BTHC. Might the WCHA raid the CCHA and cherry pick some choice remainders as a hedge against other WCHA teams leaving to form their own conferece? The "re-alignment is a possibility" quote clearly leaves the door open for teams to teams and leagues to make changes in response to the BTHC.

I noticed those comments as well.

He certainly didn't say, "The WCHA is still a great league without Sconnie & the Gophers."

I've heard OTR that people within DU's Athletic Department are disappointed with the lack of leadership shown by Bruce McLeod throughout this debacle.

I did notice Gwoz didn't react to the comment about his contract. I wonder what the final outcome will be.

The significant comment i picked up was Gwaz . said "OBLIGATED" when talking about Minn. and Wisc. joining the big ten. I thought there was a strong possibility but still some qoustion. It seems like it's already a done deal in three or four years.

Its a done deal.

Minnesota & Wisconsin told the WCHA at the meetings that they are leaving in 2014.
