BC 3 DU 0 Final

Boston College completed their sweep of the University of Denver this weekend. Jimmy Hayes scored on a DU turnover at 1:28 of the 1st period. DU had some good chances but couldn't find the back of the net. Jason Zucker absorbed a knee on knee hit near the end of the 1st period but returned later in the game.

Tommy Cross gave BC a 2 goal lead at 8:57 of the 2nd period when his shot deflected off of a DU d-man and went past Sam Brittain.

The 3rd period was scoreless until Cam Atkinson scored an empty net goal for BC to ice the game at 19:43 of the period. DU did not score a power play goal all weekend which played a major part in losing the game. DU had 5 minute power play when Phillip Samuelsson was ejected from the game for a hit to the head and couldn't cash in. Sam Brittain played very well in goal for DU.

Next up will be the Wisconsin Badgers at Magness next weekend.

Is it not a penalty to shoot the puck out of play from your own zone? Has that always only been the NHL?

BC just did it and nothing happened. Just wondering if that should have been called a delay of game.

Frustrating game tonight. DU played a much better and cleaner game but came up short. The effort seemed to be there but the Pios just couldn't capitalize on any of their opportunities. DU's PP needs some work--too much passing and looking for the pretty play. Get traffic in front, create screens, shoot the puck!! And repeat!!

Getting swept at home is a kick in the teeth, but hopefully DU learns from it. No time to rest, with the Badgers here next weekend, then a road trip to hostile Grand Forks, and then the home and home with CC. It's baptism by fire for this young DU team.

Watching BC in person really makes you appreciate that kind of team. They are a well oiled machine. Give those guys a lot of credit.

If you don't want to learn the rules, then why do you watch the game?

When's the last time DU lost 2 in a row at home? I'm thinking back to the 2007 season, maybe??

DU played their hearts out last night and I'm proud of their effort. Our fans are used to seeing DU win win they play hard, but sometimes giving your best still isn't good enough to beat a superior team, and BC was just superior in all phases of the game.

The Pioneers have not been swept at home since March 9-10, 2007 when they lost two games to Wisconsin in the WCHA playoffs. The last time DU was swept at home by a NON-conference opponent was Nov. 8-9, 1991 when they faced Providence.

Tough loss. BC was sharp and outplayed the Pioneers. I'm a little worried about DU's ability to put the puck in the net. All those power plays and chances and nothing to show for it.
