Okay so what is up with this?
In the future, if DU is going to fly to Omaha on a regional jet, it would probably be a good idea to load up a Ryder Truck (no not John Ryder) and have the equipment manager drive over there. It might actually save money in baggage fees.
According to Chambers Blog..."Three goalies are on the trip — freshman Juho Olkinuora, sophomore Sam Brittain and junior Adam Murray. Coach George Gwozdecky wasn’t sure who would start Friday, but a good guess would be Brittain."
Hopefully the team left its negative baggage behind and will play well this weekend.
perhaps Ops Director Tenzar (?) might plan ahead with a little more detail... (He obviously was NOT in the military)
Tenzer drew my name out of the hat in the 50/50 Raffle, so you wont get any complaints from me.Easy to second guess a situation like this in hindsight. It just goes to show you how complicated the logistics are moving 27 people and baggage around the country on a weekly basis. The logistics get very tricky in the next few weeks with the playoffs.
I hope this isn't a sign of things to come this weekend. DU needs to come out flying.
Friday night is a classic "trap game." Lots of emotion and nerves last weekend against North Dakota.Of course this team is impossible to get a pulse on so you never really know what to expect.Getting some early goals would be nice. DU really seems to score goals in clusters.
Gen. Powell could have booked the flight and the baggage issues might have happenned.
This is what happens when the hockey team doesn't have its own plane.
Time For Goddard Air?
Something I've always wondered, how do they keep the hockey sticks from getting broken while on a flight? Do they have specially padded hockey stick bags?
RJ's are notorious for weight restrictions, especially when flying out of the Denver thin air. Happens all day, everyday. Thank you, SkyWest. It cannot be avoided, but it could have been handled differently. You're sharing the plane with other paying passengers. SkyWest could have been a little proactive, realized it's a team, and asked for other volunteers or something. What are you gonna do - leave off bags that belong to a United Premiere Elite Gold member, and instead load Knowlton's bag, who's group ticket may have cost $300 less?? No way. DU could have taken this possibility into consideration, and planned ahead to drive the bags, charter a plane, or something else. It's just not a good situation for anybody.
