“Normally I’m pretty well-focused on what’s happening on the ice and not a lot can distract me, but our student section and pep band were phenomenal tonight. When I start feeling the effects on the bench, you know it’s something pretty special.”
-George Gwozdecky

Colorado College jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but the Pioneers bounced back with two of their own in a thrilling game at Magness Arena. DU held a solid 44-27 shot advantage, but the Tigers seemed to have premium scoring chances.

DU carried large portions of play, especially as the game wore on. CC had a shot ring off the post in overtime.

The house was rockin tonight The student section didn't let up. Even Gwoz said in the postgame that normally he is focused on the game put he could hear the south stands all night. He mentioned that there were some "older" alums that played tonight in the pep band.

The Boone T-shirts were present. I had several students and alums stop me an offer there support.

GO DU

msbdu - Sounds like DU is starting to get a real home rink advantage with the students. What did the students do with the 1957 Clarion centerfolds they were given? Were the older alums possibly some of those that used to sit in the chicken wire cage? ;-)

I would say the game was everything that was advertised: DU with a dominating offense as they outshot CC by a large margin and CC with an excellent PK and the nations' best goalie in between the pipes. Although it was a 2-2 tie it seemd like CC struggled to get to two goals and couldn't get anymore while Bachman prevented DU from scoring half a dozen or more. Even with DU down 2-0 in the 2nd period, you could see that with the chances they were getting something would eventually go in. Great game to watch. Lets see if DU can get 2 points down in the Springs and get a 3 point weekend.

The 1957 Clarions went up at the beginning of the game when CC skated out and they were followed later by chants of "57".

The students and band were amazing tonight, and you can see Magness becoming a really collegiate rink experience. The band really adds a lot, and the student cheering was amazing.

If not for Bachman, DU would of owned that game. It will be interesting to see how DU will adjust to an Olympic size ice rink.

Good crowd tonite. Lots of fun!!!!!

Should have won the game. I'm drunk and mad now!!

Can't really put to words how annoyed I was with the CC fan making his own "art" on one of the student section Denver Arch giveaways with his sharpie.

The 1957 poster was in the Clarion. They were giving out the paper at the entrance. Of course I displayed the poster and a CC alum in my section told me that it was inappropriate. I told him it was inclusive!

Now we're marginalizing CC fans. I guess we can expect a letter from CC's president next week.

Anyone else notice the slapdick in the Sioux jersey hanging out with the ugly broad in the CC t-shirt near section 14 last night?? Those two need to be teabagged and then given a hot lunch.....

Yeah, that loser in the NoDak jersey was standing by us all night. It was his loser friend who decided to do some "art" with his lousy sharpie on the expandable "Denver Arch" thingys.

He also couldn't understand why people at DU would hate both CC and ND. This concept was apparently beyond his block scheduled mind.

Plus their only response to ANY sort of hollering at them was "Scoreboard" .... So that didn't really work out too well by the end of it; and surprisingly they had nothing to say. I hope they went back to the springs and wrote a poem about it.

NoDak fans have no class or soul at all.

Exciting game last night. This was one of the more entertaining games I've seen with CC. I thought CC was the better team for the first period and a half, even though DU held the shot advantage, but DU really came on and, especially in the 3rd, carried the play. If the Pios had been able to finish on any of those power plays they win by 2-3 goals. Great game nonetheless.

Bachman was as good as advertised. The thing that really impresses me is his positioning. He never seems out of position. He's a very talented player and is the key to CC's success, no doubt.

Someone needs to punish McCulloch tomorrow night. He was taking runs at everyone last night.

First off... The college hockey news has it wrong. They are saying on the 7:42 p.m. time that Mannino was the goalie that stopped that 6 on 3 for our first of 2 national titles.

Thought I point that out.

Second, besides the overtime I thought DU dominated the play on even strength. They really didn't give CC all that much. However, the special teams were very bad. Each and every time they tried to make the play look pretty. Keep it simple and hell they not only scored but they made Bachman scramble for the puck. If not for CC jumping in front of the net like dogs on raw meat who knows how many goals they could of gotten there.

It will be very interesting to see how DU fairs on Olympic ice tomorrow.

As we have been sayting all season, DU certainly has the firepower. They do need to be more disciplined on defense. As in past games, a couple of times they got behind the defense.

Another thing about Bachman, he doesn't allow a lot rebrounds.

I bet you money that he would have rather have played for DU

tt.....I must have been sitting close to you. That nutsack in the Sioux jersey was close our section and is obviously starved for attention.

2:37.....you are right on. Besides that, anyone who wears a jersey to a game in which that team is not playing has loser stamped on his forehead. That twirp last night couldn't get laid with 10 $100 bills and an inflatable doll named Destiny.

North Dakota fans are like a cancer. They spread very easily.
