Just a question. Why is the pre partying always at Spanky's for this blog site? Can we meet at a place that actually has good service and good food. Last 2 experiences at Spankys I received attitude from the waitress, and couldn't get a beer in a timely manner. Gotta tell you that Pioneer Grill is a hella of place. Great food, drinks, service. Is the Spanky's owner tied in with this website? Just asking.

Good question. I've never been to Pioneer Grill, but hear its good.

Spanky's has been great to us. Some of the people who help me with this blog love the place. Since I live out of town, I rely on them.

If these events take off we can look at rotating the locations, but for now we're trying to build something on the grass roots level.

I'd like to see us grow this to the point that we could have tents in front of Magness Arena.

Spanky's is fitting - as the Pies will be spanked by Tech this weekend!

Spanky's is the best place to have the Rally, or any event. Come on now... the food is really good and so is the service. That is why it is packed. It is the place to be before a DU hockey game.

Spanky's ROCKS! And they are HUGE supporters of DU. Spanky's is the place to be before and after games, and most any time else.

I agree with the location. There really isn't anywhere else close enough for a gathering that size. Illegal Pete's (if it ever opens) might be a great spot too.

I'll second the bad service at Spanky's, though. Took forever to get basic food and drinks (empty house). It may be busy and packed, but so is a strip club. You be the judge.

Some interesting negative comments. I'll pass them on to the owner to make sure they get rectified.

I've been going to Spanky's before DU games for years and know that the leadership there is totally behind DU hockey and committed to their customers. I know the wait staff and can't imagine any of them being rude to customers.

Perhaps, the folks that went there hit Spanky's on an off night/day or whatever. It happens to the best places.

Anyway, I'm hoping that this Saturday will be an EPIC event at Spanky's. If not, blame me.

I've been to Spanky's a total of five times now (random nights of the week and a weekend) and even spoke to the manager on staff (may have been the owner) and still no resolution to the problems.

To me this place isn't really a bar atmosphere. It's a burger joint so it's not for everybody. I think that's why it's so difficult to get good service for beers as there are so many people eating and taking up the waitresses time. They would be better off making the place set up for more of a bar vibe on game nights and pack more people in. Too many people go there just to eat dinner that have no connection to Pioneer hockey, watching games, and are just taking up the spaces. I usually go to Campus Lng. More of an old school feeling with those red and yellow "Ds" on the walls and the best green chili and cold beers for a decent price

I like the Campus and the green chili rocks.

We'll do another event there later in the season.
