The Denver Post has a breaking story of Rhett Rakhshani returning to DU for his senior season. Rakhshani will also serve as captain of the team next season.
Chambers' Denver Post Blog has details on forward Jesse Martin's offseason hip surgury. It was performed by the same doctor that worked on baseballer Alex Rodriguez's hip.
No surprise because he committed months ago, but David Makowski signed a National Letter of Intent with DU. Makowski is set to come to DU in 2010 and will play in the USHL with the Green Bay Gamblers again next season. He has been having a sensational postseason, netting a power play goal last night, but the Green Bay lost 4-2 to the Indiana ice.

I thought Ruegs would be Captain
FINALLY! Rockey will come back... to Denver.
Now we just need the Rubber Band Man to come back for his final year. I thought Ruegs would be captain as well.
Not sure if the players vote on the captains or the coaches pick them or a combo of both.
I'm wondering if Ruegs' Captaincy was derailed by his injuries over the past couple years... He's been good but he's just not quite the same.
DG- George makes the selection after consulting with his coaches.
Whatever works.:-)
I personally heard Gwoz say one time that he takes a poll of the players and coaches, but that he alone makes the final decision on captains.
yay rhett!
As long as Martin doesn't get involved with Madonna...:-} Seriously, hope his rehab goes well and it has to be a relief for him to know he's been "fixed".
Both he and Ruegsegger showed a lot of strength of character last year playing through physical problems. We know Testwuide gutted it out after his injury at the end of the year and I'm sure there were others who battled through adversity.
Character does count.
I don't think we have to worry about Martin and Madonna. She is too busy trying to buy African babies and hanging with her Brazilian boy toy, Jesus Luz. (It is really sad that I know this crap but living in the NYC area there is way more info than one needs to know about Madonna in the paper everyday.)
Glad to see Rhett comming back. I like to see him sitting in the penalty box pouting like a baby. It's quite entertaining.
