What exactly does "Give her 3 times three" mean? Maybe give her 9 inches?

Nice victory last night over a pesky Buckeye team. Ohio State is not an elite team but there is some talent there, especially among their forwards.

I kept waiting for DU to blow things open but give credit to OSU for keeping the game close. The Buckeyes had an effective plan of attack--shoot the puck as much as possible and be physical and aggressive. DU's execution was poor at times and they looked out of sync in parts of the game, but ultimately their speed and skill won out. The Pios can really skate.

A few other observations:

The Rubberband Man played his ass off and should have been on the score sheet. So did Glasser, as usual. Chevy had a nice game. Faced a lot of shots, many of which were from the perimeter, but he had to make some key saves along the way. Dusty Jackson needs to be more physical to be more effective. He can be a good player for this team. Bozak is a terrific all around player. Maiani is really turning into a solid player, although he made a couple of poor passes last night. Mullen continues to be pivotal for this team. I think he could end up having an outstanding year.

GO DU!!!!!

"Give her three times three is a line" from the DU Fight Song "Fairest of Colleges" which was written in 1916.

While every DU person has probably heard the tune at one time or another, not every alum knows the words (certainly many of the DU alums who went to school before the 80s know the words), and DU is now making a big effort to teach the words to new freshman students at orientation, new fans through a "follow the bouncing ball video" at games, and every DU athlete is REQUIRED to learn it.

It may not be as great a fight song as "Hail to the Victors" or "The Notre Dame Victory March" but it does go back over 90 years and it does connect alumni from many decades with a common bond. It's really cool to see thousands singing it together at the games, too.
