Mike Chambers of the Denver Post is reporting this evening that Joe Colborne and Patrick Wiercioch have not signed contracts with the Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators.
Bruins sources have told CSN.com, despite reports to the contrary, that a contract with first-round pick Joe Colborne isn’t a done deal.

"It’s up to him to decide if he’s ready” to play pro hockey. There’s virtually no shot Colborne would play with the Boston Bruins should he sign before the regular season is over. That’s never been the modus operandi of the current B’s front office crew, who develop players with patience, care and a willingness to wait until they’re truly ready for NHL action. Colborne ain’t ready."

The conflicting news is rather annoying. They keep giving us false hope that JC and PW will stay.
There are conflicting reports that's for sure.
I had a good source today that said that Colborne had signed the contract.
Now Chambers is saying "Not so fast."
Clearly the Ottawa Citizen was incorrect in its article today.
These are youngsters. They will be overwhelmingly influenced by their senior advisors and parents. Gwaz is one of these senior advisors and I am sure his council will be influential. My own opinion, after watching all of the home games,is that neither are ready for NHL competition.but that big paycheck looms ever so closely. So we shall see.
I guess the question, other than money, has to be if there is a good chance whether they play in the NHL next year or are they looking at a year or two or more riding buses.
And of course there is the matter of a good education to consider.
wake up DU fans. They are both gone and expect more. Isn't Murray transferring to Alaska

Clarion quotes Colborne as saying that he signed.
I placed the Clarion info and link in the posting that appears below this one.
The one problem that we've run into with this story is the word "signed."
I believe that Joe's people probably agreed to contract terms yesterday. Perhaps as early as yesterday afternoon. We certainly had information to that effect.
Its possible that Joe hasn't "signed" anything and more than likely DU wants to present their side of the case for Joe to develop at DU and work towards his degree.
Strange situation to be sure with all the conflicting media info.
I heard Merc has amassed enough credits to graduate?? Any truth to that? So, I suspect he will be the next Chicken to fly the coop
Someone posted on Sunday night that Chevy was on a local newscast saying that he was about to graduate. I checked around on some of the local news sites to find the video but had no luck.
We could be in for a long year next year if Chevy bolts. The reality is DU would have been a mediocre team this year without him. Colborne and Patty are replaceable but Chevy is a much bigger loss.
Denver has a goaltender recruit waiting in the wings in Sam Brittain. He is very highly regarded.
Murray should be back and will need to make a similar jump in development that Chevy made after his Freshman year.
To me Colborne is the guy you can't replace. A natural goal scorer who has improved every month he played at DU.
Lastly, good puck moving defenseman are the rarest commodity in college hockey. Wiercioch would be a handy weapon if he returned.
****** !!!!! ***** I can confirm - again my fellow DU fans.... this is a CONFIRMATION - that both Joe Colborne AND Patrick Wiercioch have BOTH each SIGNED copies of Slap Shot magazine for me & my daughter this past season, in the main lobby :)
chevy graduates this year, he's in some of my classes, which you must be a senior to be in, also I heard him mention that he is a year ahead in school and expecting to graduate this year
Chambers has a blog update talking about Chevy.
